Can you use sculpey glaze with polymer clay?

What can I use to glaze cold porcelain?

• I made some charms out of cold porcelain. I've been searching for a clear glossy glaze that I can use to seal my charms. I've been trying Mod Podge Clear Acrylic Sealer, but it gets sticky and doesn't look as "glossy" as I would like. I also don't like Sculpey because it's pretty expensive. I read that Future Floor Polish is good for polymer clay. Would it work for cold porcelain too? And if it does, would it be safe? Like if I wanted to wear one of my charms, would the polish be dangerous near my skin?

  Future (now called "Pledge with Future Shine" for vinyl or wood) is fine as a sealer, and tougher than many other options. It should work fine as a glossy finish and as a sealer, and wouldn't be "dangerous" in any way, nor would it become sticky over time.** The other most common clear sealer or gloss finish used on polymer clay is polyurethane, and it's at least as tough as the Future but thicker (Future is rather thin). Both are also considerably cheaper than buying the Sculpey glazes or any other sold "for arts and crafts." The brand of polyurethane called Varathane (and especially its Gloss Indoor line of finish) is even better than other polyurethanes in a few ways (and is also UV resistant). **Future (and polyurethanes, etc) can be a little sticky for awhile until they're completely dry and also "cured" which happens over about a week in reasonably dry weather. You could do the same thing some polymer clayers do to speed that up and "harden" them though if you want by putting the "dry" finished item into the oven for 5-15 minutes at 225-250º F. http://glassattic.com/polymer/finishes.htm HTH
