What are some good sleep aids?

What are some natural sleep aids/methods?

  • I have self diagnosed myself with chronic insomnia, i hate to relay on sleeping pills to go to sleep so i was wondering if anybody knows any natural remedies. I have tried like calming teas before and that doesn't work. I`m lactose intolerant so i cant really do the warm milk stuff. During the day i'm very active and i don't drink any caffeine. I generally don't feel tired during they day but i will often fall asleep at 5am and not wake up until 12 or 1. I've tried getting up at 8 or 9 and going about my day and i'm still fine. I just want to go to sleep!!

Well when you are trying to goto sleep try to avoid getting on your cellular phone or computer, it is rumored that these cause insomnia from the screen being too bright and tricking the mind that it is still day out. You could always take warm baths and listen to soothing music to help you relax. That is all that sleeping medicine does, it relaxes your muscles which causes you to feel tired. Also tence and relax your muscles or in other words stretch or rub the back of your neck in circular motion to give a relaxed feeling. When laying in bed sometimes it's hard to sleep because you are constantly thinking of things that you are trying to do or that you need to solve, but what you need to do is think of something nonimportant which usually will lead to random thoughts and then drifting to sleep. Try to goto bed at a descent hour and maybe you will wake up at your waking goal. Good luck!

I have trouble sleeping and this may sound really weird but I usually try meditating and if that dosent work I either read, text my friends, or try like running around trying to get myself tired also you can get stuff to spray on your pillow to help you sleep hope I helped =]

Things that I have found to work for me: don't use the computer or watch tv for at least an hour before bed - the brightness of the screen effects your brain staying awake. I take melatonin. It is what your body produces to put you to sleep. It's like a sleeping pill, but is a natural OTC drug. You can find it with all the other supplements. I tried sleeping pills, and they didn't work, but this does. I fall asleep within the hour and I wake up fresh eyed And not groggy. I would recommend giving it a shot.
