Is there a way to treat Hypoglycemia?

Is there a way to treat Hypoglycemia.?

  • Is hypoglycemia curable

  • Answer:

There are a large number of contributing factors which can create hypoglycemia. Adrenal insufficiency, thyroid disorders, liver failure, pancreatitis etc... also it can be an early sign of diabetes so get a glucose tolerance test done. You don't say what age you are as 1/2 people with hypoglycemia are over the age of 50. The production of insulin is affected by the function of the adrenal glands. If the adrenal glands are overstressed and exhausted they cannot function properly and an over abundance of insulin may result. This causes the blood sugar level to sink below normal, creating a low energy syndrome within the body. The adrenal glands produce epinephrine, which acts to "turn off" insulin production. Hypoglycemia isn't a disease to be cured, it simply a description of low serum glucose; asymptom It is overdiagnosed for anyone who just feels tired. Reactive hypoglycemia can occur if you eat a large simply carbohydrate meal, as a few hours later your blood sugars will crash and you may feel tired, nauseated, or just crave carbs again The treatment is to eat a better diet, eat small meals more frequently. Try and get a little bit of protein at every meal and have fewer simple carbohydrates (generally found in junk food and "white" food) and more complex carbs (whole grains, and veg with a low glycemic index)

I guess you are a type 1, rather than a type 2 diabetic, ( though you could be either.) I would need much more information to make specific suggestions for you, though your hypoglycemia is clearly a result of the interaction between your diabetes, your lifestyle and your treatment. Are you for example on short, medium or long acting insulin or a combination. How often do you inject? Is your hypoglycemia occurring at specific times of day? What is your HbA1c reading? Are you experiencing the problem when you exercise? Without this sort of information I can only suggest you contact your diabetologist, or at least your diabetic liaison nurse. EDIT Of course Rhianna has pointed out to me I might have 'goofed' not her! You might, inappropriately, be referring to your endogenous insulin. Perhaps if you do glance at your question again you can add an edit indicating whether or not you are a diabetic on insulin, in which case my answer stands, or a non diabetic who has some misconceptions as to what hypoglycemia actually is.

First, Hypoglycemia is a symptom, not a disease. There are two types of hypoglycemia that can occur in people who do not have diabetes; Reactive (postprandial, or after meals) and fasting (post absorptive). Reactive hypoglycemia is not usually related to any underlying disease; fasting hypoglycemia generally is and would require investigation. Eating a balanced diet will help, if you feel tired after a big meal, mostly carb based. Try and eat little and often. Many people wrongly assume they are hypoglycemic based on the fact they get tried easily! EDIT I may have goofed this answer. I assumed you were a non-diabetic and where worried you were hypoglycemic. If you are diabetic then Dr. Frank's answer is more relevant. Sorry for the confusion, my bad.

It's not curable but the symptoms can be controlled if you eat several small meals during the day so your blood sugar doesn't get too low.

nerve interference to the pancreas can produce hypoglycemia. to check for this, see an hio method chiropractor.

There's a difference between the words treat and cure. You can TREAT hypoglycemia by watching your sugar intake to minimize its effect on your life and well-being. There is NO way to cure hypoglycemia. Oh well, look at the bright side, at least you don't have diabetes.

R & H

As far as I know, it can be controlled but not cured for good. Diet and some medication for life is what my doctors suggested.

Hypoglycemia, also called low blood glucose or low blood sugar,it can be treated but it is not CURABLE permanently. it occurs when blood glucose drops below normal levels. Glucose, an important source of energy for the body, comes from food. Carbohydrates are the main dietary source of glucose. Rice, potatoes, bread, tortillas, cereal, milk, fruit, and sweets are all carbohydrate-rich foods.

basically, when you insult your system with a highly digestible carbohydrate, it puts out a lot of insulin, and then your blood sugar falls. Eat a less refined, higher fiber diet. If you have any insulin at all (and you do if you are hypoglycemic) you will be fine if you eat only vegetables. How much other stuff you can eat without symptoms depends on how bad the condition is.
