Why does it take 6 months for ones vitamin D level to come back to normal?

mine was 16 and norman range is 30-70 that was two months ago,since doctor told me to take one tablet of 50,000 uints of vitamin D.. ive been having some nausea from this.. but why ? thanx. best regards
