How old do you have to be do own a website?

How do we tell someone the free website they built will be switched back to old one that was dated but better?

She had a fan rebuild her website but the end result sucks. I am stepping in and plan on collaborating closely with her to make sure it works. The interim step is to go back to the old website. How do we tell this guy that we appreciated his help but in the end the old vision was closer to what we need in the short term?
