How can I make a DIVX Disc?

What kind of alternative software I could use to make an copy of this movie on a DVD Disc ?

I'm trying to make an copy of Rush Hour 3 and It is on a DVD Disc and I've tried using DVD Shrink 3.2 to resize the dvd into a 4.7 GB Recordable Disc but I'm having problems with it. It would run the copy process fine but when i play the copied disc of the movie it would start skipping in the middle of the movie like crazy. I've thought it was a defected disc so i burned another copy onto another disc but it still wouldn't work. What knid of alternative software I could use to make an copy of this DVD ?? I'm trying to make an back up copy because i watch this movie a lot. The original DVD Movie Disc i bought from the store the size is 9.46 GB.
