Is Graphic Design a good A-Level for me to take?

Is it ok to take into consideration planned use when auctioning a design?

  • Hi. I'm currently auctioning a spare web design I made. I don't do that very often and I added a requirement for bidders to post their planned future use of the design. I believe that there's a difference between pure commercial and personal use. People often can't afford better designs for their personal projects. I would love to see my design rather on a music blog of some kind, than on company blog that no one reads and no one enjoys. And a person who use the design on daily basis would certainly appreciate it more than a template or cheaper design. In my auction, I like to prefer those people and give them some kind of a discount, or at least take it into consideration when deciding between highest bidders (it's not against forum's rules). For this opinion - caring for future use of the design - I got basically laughed at. Is this normal? Is it ok not to care just for the money I make?

  • Answer:

From an etiquette point of view, it sounds fine to me. Enforcing your agreement is another thing; if someone buys your design then uses it for porn, viagra sales, cigar ads, or white slavery, what are you going to do?
