What was your worst interview?

What Is The WORST Thing A Person Can Do At A Job Interview?

  • Treating the receptionist badly is one, and showing up with alcohol on the breath and having horrible tattoos or piercings is another. What do YOU think?

  • Answer:

/ Bad Interview Techniques ( won't get you the job): 1. Avoiding eye contact, or being distracted by anything (cellphone, someone walking by, Interviewer's clothing or figure) other than the Interviewer's eyes 2. Frowning (which shows disinterest) 3. Not listening to the Interviewer 4. Cutting off or finishing the Interviewer's sentences 5. Body odor, and other unattractive personal hygene (unbrushed teeth, tattoos, messy hair, inappropriate clothing, disgusting fingernails) Like you said, "treating the receptionist badly" is one, because everyone who works there was hired. That's your goal as well, and employees have a way of getting information around quicker than you can go from the front door to the chair in front of the Interviewer's desk.

Farting! Oh that would be very very bad to fart during an interview or before you leave the office! Off colored jokes would be another bad thing to do. Oh your cellphone goes off and you take the call. Come on remember to turn your ringer off! Yeah alcohol on breath or just bad breath, dirty clothing... I could go on.

OK, I'll set aside the absurd, like taking a dump on the office floor. Now, there are two ways to look at that question: What's the rudest thing you can do, and what's most likely to keep you from getting hired. The answers overlap a lot, though. The rudest is probably being late. And it'll keep you unemployed because if you can't show up on time for the interview, you're probably not going to show up on time for work, either. Misrepresenting yourself will keep you unemployed. And it's rude because it insults the intelligence of your interviewer, who you can bet will see through a padded resume in about two questions.

acting like this business can't go on without you and either hinting that or flat out telling the interviewer that.
