What does the interview process look like for an assistant manager position at Walmart?

Do they still want me?

  • So it has officially been two weeks and two days since my last interview (I've had two interviews with the company already). I walked into the store the week after my interview and the manager (the first one I interviewed with) told me that references take a long process so give it another week. So I gave it a week and a day...walk back into the store and another manager gave me the store number to call the next day to speak with the manager I interviewed with (second interview). I called the next day, and apparently she left. So they asked for my number....I left my number with them. The manager on the phone said she'll look into it. And she said usually the managers would call or send me a letter telling me if the position have been filled. But I have gotten neither. So does this mean the second manager didn't want me? The first manager seemed to really like me...and so did everyone else I spoke with. But no one really knows my situation except the second manager. I'm kind of irritated and feel like she's the only one holding me back....

  • Answer:

I had a similar experience, I would just leave it. There could be more of a reason of holding... Perhaps they are in the works and waiting for person to leave the position, before officially hiring anybody. Or perhaps theres some conflict. Already, you should prob take this as like a 'foresight' on how it could be if you were working. Say, for example: that you want time off due to a wedding. Ask yourself, is this how its gonna be, cat and mouse chase perhaps? Maybe not at all. Either way, 2 weeks I would feel personally, you sold them yourself as what you can do for their company. Now ball is in their court, no response. I would just keep looking, til someone reaches you. Who knows, maybe while looking, they'll get ahold of you. And if that ends up being the case, you'll be able to really see whether this job compared to another is really worth it...
