What are some quotes on having a good life or goodness?

May someone help with differences between Buddha quotes and Confucius quotes?

  • Which quotes go with which person? Then after, what did Buddha or Confucius meant with his words? BUDDHA or CONFUCIUS -The mind is flighty and hard to grasp; the mind pursues all its desires. To tame the mind is great goodness. Subdue the mind and know tranquility. (Confucius?) -Seeing that our body, with hair and skin, is derived from our parents, we should not allow it to be injured in any way. We develop our own character and practice the way so as to perpetuate our name for future generations, and to bring honor to our parents. (Confucius?) -Be respectful at home, serious at work, faithful to human relations. Even if you go to uncivilized areas, these virtues are not to be abandoned. (Confucius?) -Life is a journey, death is a return to the earth, the universe is like an inn, the passing years are like dust. (Buddha?) -If a ruler himself is upright, all will go well without orders. But if he himself is not upright, even though he gives orders they will not be obeyed. -Like a spider caught in its own web is a person driven by fierce cravings. Break out of the web, and turn away from the world of sensory pleasure and sorrow. There is three each I think. Don't forget about explaining what it means. =)

  • Answer:

Two different people, two different interpretations of the universal consciousness, and what we are to it. Seeds of consciousness. #1 (the mind)= The ego/self which is suseptible to physical stimulus desire. (weakness) Only once you master control of your weakness to physical desire (pre-programmed insatiableness) will you escape temporary happiness and it's resulting sadness. (know tranquility) (no ups or downs). desire=sadness. #2 (the body)="our body" (understanding that we are not "our body) "We" develop our own character (consciousness) by overcoming physical desire and becoming in union with the universal consciousness. #3 (behavior)=Once establishing the transcendental consciousness (separation from physical desire), it is important to maintain control of behavior no matter where you are as to prevent physical desire to again poison you. #4 (Life)= Life is a journey to grow spiritual consciousness (established transcendental universal consciousness) in order to be prepared for the end of the physical consciousness. Death is the physical "self" being consumed by the physical world. Against the scope of eternity, our physical lives "flash" by in a mere "moment", it is in this "moment" we choose to be eternally spiritually conscious (without end) or consumed by physical desire. #5 (ruler)=teacher, guide cannot help others overcome physical distraction (desire) until they themselves have first done so. ("upright": being free from the weight of physical desire). Once you have freed yourself, you must free the others. #6 (caught in a web)= being affected by the control of physical desire (fierce cravings). You will only "break free" when you overcome physical desire by choosing to ignore the efforts of those desires to control, (turning away) Along with sensory (physical) pleasure, comes sorrow. Whatever goes up must come down! The true "keys of knowledge" are psilocybin mushrooms, the keys to opening the doors within, and finding the transcendental consciousness. Meditation made easy!
