How To Survive The Suburbs?

Peak Water issues? How will the suburbs survive?

  • While I do not believe this planet could ever just "run out of water" as some suggest, I do however believe that in the future some places such as the southwestern desert cities of the U.S. (L.A., San Diego) could experience severe water shortages that could lead to mass migration and violent "water wars". If this did happen, how could people living in the suburbs who might no longer have running water survive? Could we dig wells, collect it from the ground, how will we survive?

  • Answer:

You could build storage tanks to collect rain water, and you may find groundwater with a well, but the state would probably arrest you. There is so much water wasted on lawns, golf courses, and agriculture out there. There is plenty to drink, but the idea of farming in the desert has always seemed silly to me. Let us grow the food here in the midwest, we have the rain and climate to do it.
