Help with the Oxygen Cycle?
-
My teacher wants me to drawn part of the oxygen cycle (though I don't know where to get the information). I can't find it in my textbook, so I look on the Internet. The three reservoirs I'm using are: atmosphere biomass solid Earth For the movement from atmosphere to biomass, I put respiration. From biomass to solid Earth I have carbon dioxide (or maybe photosynthesis), but for solid Earth back to atmosphere, I don't know what the movement is. Are my movements correct and what is the last one. Thanks!

Answer:
Did you google it? Because you can find an answer in seconds that way... Good old Wikipedia. Nevertheless. From Earth back to Atmosphere - chemical weathering will release gases that contain Oxygen (mostly CO2), and gases containing oxygen can be released through Hydrothermal Vents and Volcanoes. Again, mostly CO2 based. A bit extra for Biomass to Earth - many organisms use CaCO3 (calcium carbonate) to make shells. When the beasties die, the shells are deposited on the sea floor (assuming sea creatures) to eventually create Limestone.
