The Theory of a Flat Universe?

The Universe??? the big bang theory?

  • It seems as the "big bang" theory is famous. but let me get this straight, can some truly define the word "UNIVERSE"??? i thought it was EVERYTHING? if the big bang theory is right, then it says that the universe expands, but in order to expand, the "universe" must be expanding inside something? if that's true, the word "universe" does not entirely mean "EVERYTHING", but a figure of "a partial of everything", in side "everything". so by this, the word "universe" should be an inncorrect word?? and if technically the word "universe" is indeed correct, than there truly is no such thing as the "big bang theory", because the unvierse would be just there, not gradually grow, and as some scientists think "re-shrink" in time. i think that the whole word "universe" should be reformated to be in respect to the theory "big bang" correct me if im wrong (which i probably am:-)

  • Answer:

Here's the flaw in your logic. You think that the universe has to be in something else to expand. The Universe is literally being created more and more. By this I mean the volume of real estate in reality is growing. There doesn't have to be something else that it's growing within. It sets it's own barriers and those barriers mark the current circumference of existence. By the way, science does not respect theories. It respects laws.

the universe isnt everything because God lives outside of it. The universe is not expanding or shrinking, and the big bang theory is a lie

You start your theory by saying that the universe expands (which is true) into something. In order to understand this theory you have to know that beond the universe there is nothing just a black open space with nothing in it. If you know this you might understand it a little better

It is ever expanding, It makes me think of the end of the movie men in black how they just went further and further away. HATED THAT MOVIE THOUGH.

I see no reason to even consider that this is the only universe and this one isn't just a speck in something much larger.

Think of it like this - the big bang created matter which as u know is now moving apart at a great speed. I understand that ur assuming that since the universe is "expanding", it must be in some type of a container. Yes in a way that's correct except that this "container" has no boundaries... its like an infinite nothingness.. So i'd agree with you when u say that "universe" is not taking into consideration this "container". I think the term universe has more to do with the "matter" in this infinite space...

Great question, The problem is that "Universe" really has 2 meanings. 1)A general colloquial usage that everyday people use when they are trying to emphasize that they are talking about absolutely EVERYTHING. and... 2)The scientific meaning, (my definition) Universe: The sole ever expanding bubble that is filled with "all" the "matter" and "energy" in existance that will continuously becoming a bigger bubble full of matter and energy forever. The question is: What is Everything when speaking of the universe from a Science perspective? well, "Everything" is all the matter and energy.(by the way, Latest observations and research now show that the Universe will never "implode" and, infact, everything is speeding up and drifting away. The universe will more likely fizzle out as everything spreads and gets farther away from each other.)
