How do I figure my final grade and Separate grade for each semester?

How to figure out my semester grade, and what I have to get on my final? 10 pts. award.?

  • My school averages out Quarter 3 and Quarter 4 grades to make 90% of the grade. The semester final is 10% of the grade. How can I figure out what I need to get on my semester final to pass my algebra class? Here's the grades... Quarter 3 - 50.46% Quarter 4 - 76.00% Now how can I figure out what I need to get on my final to pass. A Passing grade is a 68.5

  • Answer:

    I don't think you can pass. You need to get higher than 100%, specifically 115.93%

From what you described, if your scores so far are averaged and count as 90% of your grade, then 90% of your grade so far is: (Q3+Q4) / 2 = 63.23 90% x 63.23 + 10% x (final) = 68.5 56.9007 + 10%(final) = 68.5 10%(final) = 11.593% final = 115.93% So you need to get 115.93% or better on your final exam... Sorry to say you will not be passing algebra this year. Look on the bright side though, when you take it again you can study up and then learn how to figure weighted averages on your own without having to resort to Yahoo Answers. :)

Puzzling

You need to score a 115.93% on your final exam. Sorry kid but it looks like you're going to have to take algebra again. Looks like Kimmysauce beat me by 6 seconds.

Mr. S.

No wonder while your going to fail.

x = (Q3+Q4)/2 = .6323 .9x + .1y = 1 .9(.6323) + .1(y) = 1 .1y = .43093 y = 430% That's not possible to get 100% in the class, you only need 68.5 so, .9(.6323) + .1(y) = .685 .1y = .11593 y = 1.11593 You need about 112% on that final. You might want to do some extra credit.

The average of your Quarter 3 and Quarter 4 marks is 63.23%. Nine tenths of this grade plus one tenth of your final mark have to add up to 68.5 in order to pass. If we call the final mark y then this results in the equation (0.9)(63.23) + (0.1)y = 68.5 i.e. 56.907 + (0.1)y = 68.5 i.e. (0.1)y =11.593 Hence y = 115.93 so you need to get 116% on your final, which is an impossible task.
