If you are rounding to the nearest thousand then you have to look at the hundreths. For ex on your # 3 is in hundreths, so the thousand place would be rounded down. Therefore your answer would be 38000.

its 38,000. if you're rounding to ten thousand, it would be 40,000. if you're rounding to hundred, it would be 38,400. if your rounding to ten, it would be 38,380

Figure out which place is the thousands place. In your case it is the "8". Look at the numbers to the right. In your case they are 379. If they are greater or equal to half of a thousand (ie, 500 or higher), add one to the thousands place, making 39,000. If not, don't, making 38,000. The "If" question would be half a hundred (50) if you had to round to the nearest hundred, half of ten thousand (5,000) if you had to round to the nearest ten thousand, and so on.

that guy is wrong if they ask for the thousand then in 38,379 the 8 is in the thousand place so your round that number based on the number behind it 5 and up round up any lower leave as is so in this case it would be 38,000. if it asked for the ten thousand then that would be the 3 in the ten thousand place so it would then be 40,000 seeing that the number after 3 is 8 and so you would round the 3 up to 4

Ok. so in this example you are rounding to the nearest thousand. looking at the thousands (ignoring the ten thousands for a minute) you have 8379. The trick is to look at whatever is in the hundreds. You can see in this example you have a three there. so we need to round down all other digits to 0 giving 38000 as the answer. Its a bit like rounding for decimal points. If you had a number equal to or greater than 5 in the hundreds you will need to round up e.g. to round 38479 = 38000 38579 = 39000 38779 = 39000

the answer is 38,000 because 379 is less than 500, if u are rounding off to the nearest thousand but if u are rounding off to the nearest ten thousand then it would be 40,000 because 8,379 is over 5,000.

well. here is how i do it. i loOK at the number beside the number you are rounding. ( so you are looking at 3 ok?) and it depends on that number whether or not that number goes up. if it is lower than three you keep ot the same. if it is 5 or higher you round that number up. i might be wrong, but since the number is 3 and it is lower than 5, then the 8 stays the same. and your answer is 38,000. hopefully i didn't embarrass myself and hopefully i helped you out a little.

The given number is 38,379. We have to round it to NEAREST thousand. The given number is greater than 38,000 and less than 39,000. Among these two numbers which is nearest to the given number? You know the answer is 38000. If it is required to round it to nearest hundred, the number is greater than 38,300 but less than 38400. The given number is nearest to38400. If the given number is 38, 350 and it is needed to round up to hundred then it is mid of 38 300 and 38, 400. In that case it is accepted to take 38 400 as nearest.
