How does one become a record producer?

How did karl pilkington become a producer with one gcse?

  • Just wondering how karl pilkington became a producer of a radio show when he only got one gcse? Gives others hope to the people who do badly at school that they still can get a decent job.

  • Answer:

To be a radio producer you don't need any qualifications. What's more important is work experience, passion and a tenacious attitude. Karl landed a small job on a hospital radio station in manchester in the mid 90s, learning on the job how to audio engineer and used this experience to apply for numerous other Radio roles. Eventually he landed a job as a production assistant, creating promos and idents at xfm, whilst shadowing producers to improve his knowledge of the technical elements of production, when a producer role became vacant, Karl was given the role on a temporary basis, which eventually lead to him landing the role on a full time basis.
