Good internships for high school?

  First and most importantly, just because an internship doesn't specifically say "high school" don't automatically assume that the company won't consider high school students. Relative to the total intern population, it's not that common for high school students to seek out and complete a professional internship, so companies typically don’t post internship positions for high school students. Similarly, an internship that specifically asks for college students may consider a high school student if you have a skill set that is appropriate for the internship. You have nothing to lose by sending in your resume and asking if they will consider you as an intern. You will probably have the most success with "college internships" if you focus on companies that don't specifically ask for upperclassmen or coursework completed in a specific major. You might actually be more qualified than you think for some of these internships if you possess the right experience and motivation. Keep in mind that it can be difficult to line up an internship as a high school student. However, if you're willing to put in the time and effort you should be able to find a meaningful and rewarding experience. You will need to dedicate significant time to your search and expect to hear a lot of “nos.” I would recommend that you focus on small businesses in your area. There are literally millions of small businesses in the US. Don’t restrict your search only to internship postings listed online and don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and call to inquire about working as an unpaid intern.
