Can I Go To School In Another District?

  • I live in Philadelphia and I was wondering is there any legal way that I could go to school in another local district because Philadelphia public schools are terrible and I would like to go to a school in another local district, even if my parents have to pay...is this possible?

  • Answer:

Sure, if you have special needs that aren't met in the school you attend now. However the school district would have to pay for you to attend the other school. But that's only if you have special needs. If you are just a regular student, then you just have to deal with it.

That depends on the district rules. You may be able to go to another school within your own district IF the school has room for you and your parents supply all transportation to and from the school. Very few districts will allow students from another district to transfer in if they are not actually moving into the area. The best thing to do is contact the district you are interested in going into and ask them. However, if your parents can pay, you may want to consider a private school in your local area trying to go into another district without moving.

Could be possible if you pay. How about a private school? Find out about scholarships!

Yes, you can.All you have to do is go to the school that you want to go to ,and talk with the people. You'll have to pay tuition unless you have a valid reason to have it waived.

In Louisiana there is a boarding school for in-state gifted students and it costs $700 a year for a student to attend. It used to just be for 11th and 12th grade, but this fall 10th graders are starting there. you have to qualify for admission by ACT or SAT test scores, and have the grades and teacher recommendations, of course. Does Pennsylvania have anything like that for its students?
