There are going to be 8 valedictorians at graduation. What can we do instead of giving individual speeches?
-
This is a high school graduation and we would like to do something as a group during the graduation ceremony.

Answer:
I think you should work together to show what the top 8 of you school could accomplish... a video presentation... slide show, something that memorializes your years at the high school.... make it about everybody... the great teachers, support staff, students... I think it would be great to show how far you have come, and where you future will begin to lead you.....photos and music can say a a lot.... and then no one has to listen to a boring, ill stated valedictorian speech, let alone 8 of em....

Well, a skit is a good idea, but how about reading a book such as "Oh, The Places You'll Go!"..guaranteed tear-jerker from the parents, and there are enough pages in it for you all to read two or three. Or ask the kids in your graduating class for some quotes that have inspired them to get through school, or ask their parents on a quote of advice that they wish THEY had known when they left high school.

What about you deciding on 8 people/skills/traits that helped you get through school? I was thinking maybe talking about how important that teachers, parents, friends, grandparents, counselors, administrators, pastors, and...maybe siblings were in making sure you made it this far. You could all pick one person that was an inspiration to you and thank them. The 'Oh! The Places You Go' book is an excellent idea too. The skits would be cute too but I guess it depends on whether you want a serious or humorous graduation. And by the way..Congrats and Good Luck in the future!!

I thought schools - at least in my area - only had one? What happened that there are so many??? As far as what you can do as a group? I guess just let each person have a few minutes in the limelight.

Graduation speeches are always boring. You should all do something fun instead. Like a skit or a funny rhyme. You can easily make 8 parts for each person.

Make a presentation in the form of an informational echo, one person saying something, then another with more info, and another and another, back and forth from each student until the point gets made. It should look something like a dialog and flow smoothly, non-stop. It would add an interesting edge to graduation.
