To keep track of your work and keep grades up you should: Be Organized, manage your time, be successful in class, take good notes, study smart, and be test smart. Organization - Use a planner, calendar, cork board, and/or white board to keep track of due dates, and homework. Keep work and notes organized and in folders/binders. Keep your locker and backpack neat. And pack your bookbag before you go to bed. Don't procrastinate. Time - Use extra class time and study hall to your advantage. Don't wait until the last minute to do that project. Create a plan and stick to it. And be prepared for last minute things that can get in your way. Class - Be on time, know your teachers and how they grade and handle class. Be prepared and get a good seat so you can get the most out of the class time. Always ask questions, don't be shy. Do your homework and participate in class, and do your part in group projects. Notes - listen 80% write 20%. When the lecture is done, write down things you heard. Listen for things that are repeated the will be on tests. Use abbreviations that you understand to make note taking faster, and use key words. Skip lines so you can add more if needed. Go over your notes at the end of class to make sure they still make sense and add in things that you missed. Copy notes that you missed when you were absent. When taking notes out of a book scan, read, and review. Study - Find a well lit, quiet area, with out harsh light and distractions. Know if you are a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner. Organize your time, and know what kind of test you are taking, essay/objective/etc. Make your own questions, and use the study sheet your teacher gives you. Write things down again, copying your notes again helps drill in what you have learned. Flash cards and color coding also works. Use memory tricks. Learn how to write, present, and type well. Re-write formulas/facts/names/dates on notecards so you can look at them quick. Tests - Develop a plan. Narrow down your multiple choice questions. circle questions you need to come back to. Recognize key words in true/false questions. Start with the easiest essay question and work up to the harder ones. Go over old tests, and be prepared for open book tests knowing key pages or notes. Always check your answers to make sure you didn't mark something wrong or skip a problem. In Math always show work, try approaching problems in different ways. Well, what I do, and I have block schedule, is to keep up with my work for the following day and try to do a bit for the day after. So lets say you have school tomorrow. You should have the work for tomorrow done already, and then do around half for the day after. (It's confusing. sorry) If you have regular schedule, meaning you have all your classes on the same day, then do your homework in order from the first class to the last. This way, if you can't finish it all in the same day, then the next day, when everything is due, you can try to finish the work for the classes that you still need during a free period or in a lunch break. And if you're desperate and it's a lot of work, then wake up early in the morning and finish it. It might seem crazy, but it really works. Your mind is clear and can work easier in the morning. I've tried it!! Good luck, and don't worry, you'll be fine. Just keep organized.

calendar to hang on your wall and write important tasks on dates. Also a planner to write down simple assignments. Binder, folders, or something to organize your work.
