Good community service ideas for high school students?

Here's some Ideas: I'm not sure what weather you have now, but outdoor things: -Yardwork for senior citizens/nursing homes -Picking up Trash -walking shelter dogs People Things: -Volunteering at library -Help teach kids a sport through community -volunteer at a nursing home -Host a carnival at a shelter with homeless kids (I did this with church) -Tutor kids with reading/writing/math Any Type of Drive, such as: -Food Drive -Baby blankets/supplies collection -Do a giving tree (hang paper ornaments off a tree that say what to get, for example winter coat or diapers and have people take them, you help collect items) -Toiletries collection That's all I've got, good luck.....:)

Special Olympics looks good on Resumes, ect. Also you can go to your local Community Theatre and volunteer to usher at show. Food banks always need help. Habitat for humanity is a great organization. just look for other things around your town. Also your newspaper may have some opportunities listed in there and your school may have some they know of if you ask someone in the office. Now since its for school, 1. you may let where ever you volunteer that you have a form to fill for your schools community service records ( Most are more than happy to sign it 4u if this is needed), 2. Get the activities approved by your school before volunteering so your sure to get credit. Hope this helps. Oh, if the school does not give you a form, Google for one because it will help to keep record when for collage admissions, ect.

I'm an art teacher at an elementary school. We have many murals that have sustained damage over time. Any artistic student could do community service with me, or propose to ask other schools about any art they have that needs repair.

If you like babysitting, you could do that. Maybe you and a few friends could pick up trash somewhere. If your church does VBS, you could help out there.

Contact your local Red Cross and see if they will come and do a blood drive at the High School gym.

I was in an environmental club called Earth Club in H.S. and we would go pick up trash at parks and lakes. Go help out at a humane society. Walk dogs there or at neighborhoods. Fun stuff!

Pick a section of road, and adopt it. Take pride in our infrastructure.. It's something visible that everyone can look at and be proud of.

Blood bank? Local pre/elementary school? Food bank? Thrift Store?
