How can I manage all of my homework without getting distracted by TV, but without doing it straight through?
-
I'm a sophomore, and I have a ridiculous amount of homework every night. I sometimes can't finish it all, and am always too scared to tell my teachers that I've been unable to finish it, because I just feel too smothered that I need to take a break and watch TV. But, when that happens, I just keep watching. Can anyone give me some tips on how to do it with taking breaks in between, but without getting too distracted?? I just need help! Oh, and by the way, I get about three hours every night, and that's just for history homework.

Answer:
instead of watching tv to take a break, listen to a song or two. that'll give you about 6-10 minutes, enough to relax a bit, but not completely lose your focus. but if you need to watch tv, i would suggest setting a timer to 10 minutes or so. when it goes off, time to get back to work.

A few suggestions: A) If you smoke, don't smoke while you study, take a smoke break outside or in another room. B) If you have a girlfriend, ask her to encourage you by spending time with you or something when your done. C) Only spend as much time or effort that is needed to achieve whatever you want to achieve, and no more. Professors often assign the work solely to teach you good study and learning habits. (I learned that in the last year after looking back) D) Work in groups and take breaks together. E) Learn in groups and trade answers, but when you trade an answer, have the person explain how they came to it in detail. F) Groups are key to school. Try to find or meet a group, and stick with the same group as much as possible. Learn to trust each other. Find people with similar goals or motives.

Mini, I'm a mother of a 11yr girl. The only way to let the teacher know that the homework is to much is to tell them! They may not know that it's to much. Their are other kids that feel the same way and your not alone. It's only 3 weeks into the school year. They need to know. My daughter is in 6th grade. The homework is overwhelming for her and we email the teachers. I have volunteered in her school for many years, so I know the teachers. We have a new math book Bits and Pieces II. I can't understand it I let them know. They understand that too! Set a timer! Allow yourself sometime. Change your method. listen to music? Record the show where you left it at so you can watch it later. My daughters math takes all night until 10pm. The teacher says that it should be 40 minutes. But they teach it all day and it's easy for them to say, but if you dont understand it takes longer. Sometimes getting a late score is a radar too! The teachers will ask why are your assignments late. Speak up and tell them. Your health is important too! Are your parents around to help with the work? I'm getting anxiety just this yr alone, and i have many more to come. Good Luck and speak up!

you need to study in a room that doesnt have tv, so when you want to watch tv you need to leave your study area. maybe set up a desk and chair in a quiet well lit room and keep focused. goodluck

don't go anywhere NEAR the tv or computer, that's what i do., there's nothing else i can tell you. it's a matter of self-control. but it is hard not to get distracted. -good luck.

Well at my school we have block schedule..so no matter what teachers have to give us 2 days to do the homework. But when i was in middle school, we had normal schedule, so we had to do it in 1 day. So what i would suggest is do it at night, very late ,have people rushing you so u can do it fast. Trust me, i had to do a project last night and i did it in 15 minutes having my mom rushing me. And guess what. I got a 87. But i passes...out of all the class only 3 did it. We had 6 weeks to do it but i did it in 15 minutes. rush thru it. Or do it right when you get from home...Or when your in the restroom like doing number 2.

Just do it half of it when u get home, and the other half at like 7:00. that way you still can have fun.

turn off the tv, but take breaks and go outside, or listen to music while doing homework
