U.S history essay question?

History essay question?

  • Is this an acceptable introduction for a history essay? The essay question is: To what extent was Britain a democratic country by 1918? If not explain where I've went wrong, thanks :-)! Democracy is defined as the general public having a free equal right to vote for a representative government in a fair and effusive way. To what extent was Britain a democratic country by 1918? Unfortunately not at all, simply because the working class and the women of the public was still discriminated within the system. There were many numbers of Reform Acts which pursued in trying to gain the vote for certain members of the public, such as the rich or the men.

  • Answer:

U have a brilliant starting....U have the points all right...But as essays give u marks, dont u want to b different from ur frends...yes,u should....If u give a brilliant start & a brilliant finish u r done. In the middle portion if u write of Iraq war instead of history, dosent matter, hehe.Because u have caught the attention of ur teacher at the beginning making her think "Well this is something new " & in the summary if she thinks " Hmmm,he/she got brains", u r on an A+ So we should b trying for dat,right...ok...lets see... Defining democracy as u did is just brilliant.Full points...Lets just add something to it,ok? --------------------------------------… "For the People, By the People,Of the people", these words by ABRAHAM LINCOLN rightly defines Democracy than any definitions or expressions I put forth .So in simple words, what is Democracy? When do u call a country a Democratic Republic...When people, above a predetermined age as mentioned in the constitution of the country are free to vote for a representative government apart from their physical, social or economic background by free and fair election methods, democracy is defined and such a country is called a democratic nation... In 2009, UN stands for Democracy & Human rights.UK or United Kingdom in 2009 is a permanent member of the Security council of UN. Lets retrace pages of History to 1918. Many things was different at that time. Now in 1918 UK is called the Great Britten. A large empire extending its wings from Asia to Africa. So what was the bottom line of such a vast empire, democracy? Not at all. It was simply because the working class and the women of the public was still discriminated within the system. In 1918,the Reform Acts which was in place just torched way for a small group of public, especially the rich & the men. --------------------------------------… I think u should make changes only if u like it,because personally I think urs rock. Its so simple & easy.I just made editions here & there. This would b a worth reference....after all,I am an engineer.I cant b expert as u guys who r studying it........good night from india....take care buddy.......

I can only comment on the English not the facts here. So, I will re-write this for you. One definition of democracy is a system which gives equal rights to the general public, including the right to vote for a representative government (effusive is a completely wrong word here!!) In answer to the question 'To what extent was Britain a democratic country by 1918' it appears that it was a long way from being so. Members of the working class, and women were, at that time, still being discriminated against. Neither had the vote. However, there were a number of Reform Acts going through the Statute Books which would enable certain men, and those of a higher income to do so.
