Printing press A can print an order in 7 hrs.?
-
If printing press B is used along with press A, the job can be completed in 5 hrs. How long would it take printing press B to print the order by itself? And also how do you do you figure it out?
-
Answer:
Press A = 1/7 Press B = 1/x since there is no known time span, Total A+B = 1/5 1/7 +1/x = 1/5...multiply both sides by denominators and cross cancel as needed. (7)(x)(5)(1/7+1/x) = (7)(x)(5)(1/5) 5x +(7•5) = 7x 5x+35 = 7x 5x-5x+35 = 7x-5x 335 = 2x 35/2 = x 17.5 hrs. = x. Press B.
