Does Paypal have any fees?

PayPal fees before eBay bought them?

• Earlier today I began to realize that PayPal was charging me fees independent of eBay's fees. (Almost all transactions I have in PayPal are from eBay auctions.) Although I understand why PayPal charges fees, I think their fees are excessive. I've always thought eBay's fees are excessive. So I began to wonder, how much was PayPal's fees before eBay came and bought them out? Many of my items are cheap, and sell for one dollar on eBay. By the time all fees are paid, I get 44 cents. eBay, through its own fees and PayPal's fees, gets 66 cents, or 66%. I am sure it does not, or should not, cost eBay anywhere near 66 cents for my postings and selling to operate on their site. And yes, I know, I don't have to use them. They can set the ;price wherever they want. But we need competition. Someone out there with the money to invest, please create competition to eBay! It shouldn't be that hard because eBay's layout actually sucks in my opinion, and sometimes finding answers is a joke.

  I used both before eBay took over PayPal, and I honestly don't remember if their fees were lower or not. But I agree with knowitall, I do not like the fact that PayPal is the only method of payment allowed any more. You are being charged three times to sell something: once to list it; a final value fee; and once more to get paid for it. I like the security of being paid through PayPal, but I hate being charged so much for the mandatory privilege.
