How can I retract my bid on eBay?

Can you retract a bid on eBay???

  • Hi, my sister-in-law has just telephoned me and asked me how she can remove someone's bid on one of her items. She is selling a cabinet on eBay and some has bid for it by mistake and asked her to remove their bid. I'm pretty sure you can not retract a bid can you? Any advice would be appreciated, then i can telephone her back and explain... Thankyou

  • Answer:

You can, tell your sister to get the other person to sort it out themselves. Go to this http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-retract.html and go to the Bid retraction form at the bottom (the buyer does this)

Providing that there is more than 12 hours left on the item, then the bidder can remove the bid themselves.

you cant. maybe she can let that person win, and both of them can agree not to give eachother anything? then she could just resell it.

Anonomity... Gotta Love It

No you can't. Same thing happened to me twice a while back. I contaced the seller and told them what happened and they were more than happy to work with me. If you make a mistake and contact the seller right away, they'll work with you. You can agree to not buy the item if you win and the seller can offer it to the next highest bidder if there is one. It happens probably everyday.

They can retract a bid within a short time of making it if it was a mistake. They can also retract a bid with the seller's permission. Your sister-in-law needs to read the help pages on eBay about retracting bids. If the bidder doesn't want to go ahead, it's better they retract their bid now rather than win the item and not pay for it.

old know all

I think if both party's agree to it. E-bay should have the rules written somewhere on this.
