Please help me understand why you so freely throw around the word Scam for any online venture!?
-
I am sick and tired of the "S" word, "Scam" being thrown around in answers on this forum. To be a scam, implies intent to make money by dishonest, often criminal, means. That's a strong accusation! There are many of us in the online business community, MLM, Networking, or whatever, who have legitimate business opportunties to offer that can literally change someone's life! My question is why? Why do so many of you insist on attacking honest, well meaning, hard working people? I'm asking those of you from whom i continue to read answers to legitimate homebusiness questions with the free and liberal use of the word Scam. Please, tell me why. Further more, i challenge you to go to my site and find the dishonest practices you claim to be there. It is: http://www.thehomebusinessanswer.com

Answer:
I hear you on this one! Some people say that to push their opportunity onto people instead of people letting themselves decide which home based opportunity is best for them. One business might not be good for another person. Example, when we were looking into home based businesses, my wife wanted to do Mary Kay because she "loves" the products. On the other hand, I was dead set against it. Not because it was a bad product, but I didn't want to go around giving people facials and selling make up. It's just not right for a man to do! I also did not want to be driving around in a pink car! No Way! So we went into the telecommunications industry so we could work together on a business that would be good for both of us to do as a family. The other reason why people call things a scam, is because of their lack of business, and failure. People tend to fail in businesses because they give up too easily! They don't do what it takes to succeed in business. They figure they sign up, do nothing and should be paid for work they did not do. Doesn't happen. Because they go in, thinking they're going to make the big money like the rest of us who have had our business for a while, since they don't make the income we have (granted we've been running our business for years) they throw their hands up and call it a scam. When their business doesn't make the income they desire, and the quit, it's easy (especially in NetWork Marketing as well as MLM companies) to pass the buck onto someone else or something else. Instead of fessing up (being a man, or lady) and saying "I failed because......" they try and justify that it's a scam as to why they didn't make it. Like I said, passing the buck when the company has a very good potential, if they'd learn the industry and take the opportunities that each of these companies offer for training in their industries. Not everyone has what it takes to be a business owner, and when they find they won't do what it takes to succeed in business, it immidiatly becomes a scam, write stupid blogs and do what they can to discredit a perfectly good company. I see it everywhere in all businesses. It's pretty pathetic. So I tell everyone who see's a network marketer offering their business opportunity, that very well may be for the person who's asking, not to put down someone else's opportunity but to give them a thumbs up. People are always going to be looking for the negativity in something because they can't seam to get out of their comfort normal 9 to 5 job and take a chance at something that has the potential to make them into something. They expect the money should be "given" to them, not them take on the opportunity and make it grow and build themselves something incredible. Know what I mean? Keep on trucking! Don't let the negative people who will never really "be" somebody because they can't take the blame upon themselves, pass the buck, or be real unethical and try to pursuade others to do what they're doing. Look where they will be ten years down the line. I don't need to look at your site, if you beleive in it, then do it. Forget about the negative and keep trying to help people out! People are asking for opportunities, so keep offering your opportunity. Forget about the ones that report you out of jelousy or trying to eliminate your competition, forget about people calling it a scam, you know it's not and so will others. Focus on the positive people, what you can do for them and forget about the negative ones. Brush them under the carpet and walk over them! Leave them in the dust! In our business we have a saying, some will, some won't, so what next! I hope this helps. Need any other advice, feel free to email me or my wife at [email protected] Shaun

Throwing around the word SCAM is pretty stupid in my opinion. Even if an investment is required. After all what business doesn't cost $$ to get started. From Avon to McDonalds to a lemonade stand--they all cost something. Even those free survey compaies require internet access, a computer and electricity. http://edmakesitfree.blogspot.com/ http://www.TheCashFreeWay.com http://CoastalVacationClub.com

I just published an article on this Saturday, it should be release this week...I will have to put a link in here for you. The biggest thing is that you have to know how to handle this objection. Most people don't even know what a pyramid scam even is. They just buy the opinion of others and unfortunately for them they also buy their lifestyle. Here are the 2 questions that I immediately come back with (ex-cert from my article): The first question I ask (of course after I had asked if they know what an internet pyramid scheme is) is “Where do you work?” Then I show them how they have a hierarchy where the guy at the top always makes the money…so it isn’t one of those schemes :-) In network marketing company (at least a legitimate company) the guys at the top don’t always make the most money. The second question that I then ask is “Do you want another job or do you want to get ahead by having a business of your own?” By the way, when you ask a question always wait for them to answer…even if it goes quiet and feels uncomfortable…wait for their answer no matter what. Anyway, back to the question, whatever the answer is explain to them if they want to get ahead financially and have more time then they have to start leveraging somewhere. That’s it, those two questions will handle that objection beautifully. Here is that article that I was talking about: http://ezinearticles.com/?Internet-Pyramid-Scheme&id=1199761

The only time I use the term scam is when a company gives falsehoods. such as offering an online job but asking for upfront money. Online or wah jobs do not require upfront money as you are being hired like an employee. However if they promote a business opportunity Iwill not use the term scam as they are differentiating themselves from the employer/employee perspective.
