What is the best way to shill bid on that well known online auction?

  • Is it A) Keep outbidding a real bid but just by one bid all of the way through the auction OR B) wait until the last few Hours then get "A friend" to bid on your items.

    For sellers that well know online auction site caters to those less than desirable "buyers" They encourage sellers to give everything away because that well known online auction house gets their share of what ever you sell if for and could care less if you made a profit or not. Now that well know has increased their fee's for allowing you to sell your stuff so they can grab even more in dollars - Part of the problem is the economy - but most of the problem is the wimpy, flea ridden rule after rule making well know site - and it is getting worse - it's a losing proposition now and more sellers are throwing in the towel and leaving fee grabbing shysters

I am not sure it is illegal to get 'a friend' to bid on your stuff to get the price up. Surely in a real auction you can legitimately bid and buy back your own item (horse?). You obviously run the risk of inadvertently outbidding anyone but that is the chance you take. It doesn't seem right if you think your item is cheap at £20 and the highest bid is £1. You can put reserves on but this becomes expensive for small items. Also the person bidding knows, or should know, what their highest bid will be. Also your 'friend' could be a genuine bidder. A few bids and 'watchers' at the beginning will suggest to the 'real' buyers that there is competitive bidding. Although all the action seems to occur right at the death.
