Do you need qualification/to do a course to be a babysitter?
-
I'm currently looking for a part time job, and I was wandering if babysitting would be good for me. Here are my questions: 1. Would I need to take a course or have any qualifications? 2. Am I old enough (I am 16)? 3. And is it better to join a babysitting agency or just put out adverts? 4. How much, roughly, will I earn? 5. Is is a good part-time job to take on (whilst continuing studies)? Thanks :]

Answer:
It's a great job if you are caring, good with children and good in an emergency. If you are studying towards a proffessional qualification in child care that would help too. Also get a CRB check done so you can show potential employers - I would not use you for my children without one. A first aid certificate is a bonus too. I would use word of mouth to get jobs as joining an agency seriously reduces your income. Putting adverts up can be a good idea but never visit a person without one of your parents for the first time as there are a lot of nutters out there. You are old enough as there is no age recommended for baby sitting by law - as the safety of the children is the responsibility of the parent ie if they think you are responsible enough then that's ok ( a serious loop hole in the law) Consider how you will manage the children, what games will you play and how much will you charge. £5 an hour seems average in the UK - some charge double or time and a half after midnight. Make sure parents leave lots of contact numbers, check medical/dietry needs and note them down. Ensure you know where the parent will be and what time they will be back. For your own safety don't bath any child if a parent asks you to do this, decline politely. Check all house rules and regulations with the parent. Sometimes its a good idea to trial the family for 2 hours to check you and the children are compatible. Happy sitting, hope this helps!

1. You should probably be CPR-certified and first-aid certified, but these things are not required. 2. Absolutely. 3. That's your prerogative. It depends on the size of the area in which you live. You might want to do both. 4. Probably around $8 per hour. 5. Absolutely. You can make a pretty good amount of money with a somewhat flexible schedule.

at your age i think its best to place an advert at your local covenience shops.you can also joina an agency.they will give you some sort of short training.in this age you need training for almost everything.

No qualification, the important is you have the experience to handle the job at your age and its okey if you join a baby sitting agency for a part time job while continuing your studies. It depends to your private employer and you on how to make arrangement of your working time schedule if that employer will agree a part time job,but some employer usually need a full time baby sitter.I guess a full time baby sitter earns as much as 300$ and part time is half of it ,it depends the situation to be taken.

yes..you should have and i think 16 year old is suitable to be a babysitter.you know why??cause from there you could have a few experiences how to take a baby one day.about the earn that you will have..hmm,is depend on the time that you take care..sometimes 1 hour could be 5/10/20 dollar..just thinking if you take care the baby 2 hours.how many you will get??{err..you count by yourself..he7}..well,it also good to have a part-time job..maybe it could help you for your 'money problem',release your tension while taking care the kids..so on{think positive}..but you must to make sure that it would not disrupted your studied..that's all..

1. Would I need to take a course or have any qualifications? No u don't need to, just make sure u don't make out with your bf in front of the kids 2. Am I old enough (I am 16)? YES 3. And is it better to join a babysitting agency or just put out adverts? The babysitting agencies are a pain in the a**. So adverts is a way to go! 4. How much, roughly, will I earn? Depends really, how many kids will you be watching? for how long and how often? If it's one kid for once a week from 19:00 till 00:00 i believe 25-30$ should do the trick! 5. Is is a good part-time job to take on (whilst continuing studies)? Yes, it could be if you know how to manage your work/studies Good luck

No you don't but it is a good idea to take first aid courses just in case, and it looks better!! Yes you are old enough, you need to find out what parents are willing to pay an hour and go from there..
