Do i need a boat license to operate a boat in fl?

  • im prior military and i got my fishing lisence and i would like to buy a boat for me and my kids to go out on but i dont know if i need a license to operate one i know regristration and stuff and just to say im 23 yrs old so what do i need to do?

    Only if you are younger than 21. But its a good idea to get one anyways. Its just a simple basic test that costs $25.

Officially, its called a boating safety education ID, which you can get at http://www.boaterexam.com/usa/florida/ for $25. However, in Florida, you only need one if you are under 21. It's good to get one anyways though, just to know all the rules of boating. You also get a disount on boating insurance if you get it.
