What kind of sailboat should i buy?

Need help plz good 20' sailboat for a beginner need suggestions.?

• I live in Marblehead, MA the sailing capital of the world and i was looking to buy a 20' sailboat for me and my mom. I would be the captain being that i took lessons and i might go back for more. I would take this boatout of the bay and into the ocean around marblehead, lynn, swampscott, and maybe even revere(if i have any bostonians). I need to know the perfect boat for this kind of recreational activities. It also has to cost $2000 or under. links are appreciated, thanks in advance!

  as sailboating is so much more technical, it requires a lot more skill and understanding then motor boats require. a good boat for a beginner is one that somebody else owns and knows how to operate and is willing to bring you along for rides and lessons with. once you know what your doing well enough to satisfy that sailboat owner, you can begin shopping for your own. and while learning how, you can save enough money to buy a boat that still floats. which in the 20' class, $2,000 wont buy. a new canoe can cost $500, for a cheap one. a nice one can cost thousands..... on that budget if you want a boat, and more of one then a canoe, i'd suggest looking into used aluminum hull boats with small outboards. the outboard will be tired and ready for replacement soon, but it should give you a couple of years and depending on size a new outboard can be bought for under $2,000 in a couple of years. or a real outboard and the boats value would RISE.....
