How much is a used wave runner?

Is it good to buy a yamaha wave runner with a rebuilt engine?

• Im looking at buying a wave runner, but dont know which way to go. Ive been looking at buying new and financing or getting used. I dont want to buy someone elses head ache, and was wondering if its good to buy one with a rebuilt engine? Also, I'm in New Jersey....what does it cost to insure these things and is it mandatory?

  Buyer beware! That is the rule when buying used. I have bought 3 used waverunners. One was in poor shape due to neglect. I learned how to inspect them after that and the next two I bought were better purchases. Yamahas, in my opinion have the best engines of all pwc brands. Rebuilt engines get more tricky. You are at the mercy of the talent of the person who rebuilt it. I generally avoid rebuilds. If you are looking to save cash I would go with a used waverunner. If you place more value in reliability and can afford a new one then you should get a new one.
