Most boat owners name their boats. What is the most popular boat name requested?

Can i take out my recently purchased boat with the previous owners registration?

  • I bought a used 16ft aluminum boat yesterday, and the trailer and boat is still currently registered under the previous owners name in Massachusetts. Can I take this boat out on the water before transferring the registrations under my name? I still have his plates for the trailer and boat has a current stenciled reg # number on the side.

  • Answer:

yes, you dont have to register it in your name the very instant you buy it, but you should make a point of doing so ASAP. if you take too long and somebody actually looks in detail at the boat, it will be a hassle..... BTW, i dont about where you are, but in my area we've had an invasive species problem and you cant take your boat out without passing an inspection, unless its been inspected and has a band on it indicating its clean and ok to use in certain places. if you have a similiar thing going on, you need the registration papers to get inspected anywhere. if it has a band from a certain lake, you can go on that lake, but you need inspected for other places.

I seriously doubt anyone would know or care.. it's just a 16 foot tin can and an old trailer.. hardly a target of opportunity some crook would look for. Just don't do something stupid with it and you should be OK
