How To Buy Wholesale Boat Paint?

My boat is all blue, can I use the same paint or do I, have to buy two different kinds of paints.?

  • Answer:

If you just want to break up the all blue, there are vinyl tapes available that come in different widths for waterline, cove striping and boot-top. It's common in the industry to change the tape scheme rather than hull design or colors.

You could use the same colour blue, or another shade of blue, the colour has little to do with the kind of paint you choose. What are you trying to do? If the boat is already painted then best to use the same paint. You don't say what existing finish is there, but the rule of thumb is to replace or re-coat like with like. So if the boat is GRP you are better off sanding down and using flowcoat or two pack, if painted with enamel sand and use more enamel etc.

you should tow your boat to the nearest marine dealer and make a friend of the parts counter dude and get some help ... be professional in your manner .... fiberglass boats are different from wooden boats === you do not tell us what you gots .... the best boat paint is ""WOOLSEY MARINE"" brand and the other best brand is ""VALSPAR MARINE PAINT""" === you must use the correct paint or you will have paint stripping off your boat in the water....

good marine paints. epoxy,or one or two part polyurethane, can be applied both above and below the water line on boats that are kept in dry storage or on trailers. if you boat is left in the water for extended lengths of time, then you will want to put bottom paint(anti-fouling) on the underwater surfaces. hope this helps

The paint on your fiberglass boat is not paint, it's gel-coat. Whenever possible I would restore the gel-coat as it is much better than any paint. Rubbing compound will often bring it back to a nice shine. I would try this first. Try a small area, like the transom, to see how it comes out. There are many helpful sites, search gel-coat repair. I've seen boats older than yours brought back to an almost new look. This may save allot of time and money. Good luck.

It's your boat. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. What do you want to paint? Hull? interior? Bottom?
