What kind of sailboat should i buy?

Need help plz good 20' sailboat for a beginner need suggestions.?

  • I live in Marblehead, MA the sailing capital of the world and i was looking to buy a 20' sailboat for me and my mom. I would be the captain being that i took lessons and i might go back for more. I would take this boatout of the bay and into the ocean around marblehead, lynn, swampscott, and maybe even revere(if i have any bostonians). I need to know the perfect boat for this kind of recreational activities. It also has to cost $2000 or under. links are appreciated, thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

You are highly unlikely to find a sailboat of that length that is in any condition to leave sheltered waters, but there is always the chance. Perhaps you should ask around at the local yacht clubs and cruising clubs - there may be something that is suitable for fixing up to the required standard for open water. You should be congratulated for considering undertaking further instruction - I highly recommend that you do for both your own and your mother's safety. Good luck.

ensure you are in compliance with coast guard regulations, and if you have extra thats always a plus. those fines can be heavy and coast guard doesnt play when it comes to these things

Do a Google for Drascombe Lugger. You might get lucky in your general local. Quality is not cheap even used. Take some more classes. This may be the perfect boat but the cost is higher.
