Can I pull a 16' fiberglass boat behind a 2001 pontiac montana?

i pull my 19' boat with my 96 s-10 blazer all the time. you really just need to pay attention to the sound the van is making when your going up a hill. just cause the van can pull it dosent mean that you should. you dont want to wear out your van before its time..i think that class 3 are more surdy, thats what i have

What separates the men from the boy's is the ability to pull the boat "UP" the ramp, towing after that, is easy, you should have no problem at all, remember to "disconnect trailer lights (they are hot, going into cold water...pop...), put the plug in the boat, untie boat, back in, chock rear wheels, lower motor, retrieve boat, and splash boat at HIGH tide for best traction at the ramp.

You should have absolutely no problem. I dont know the exact towing specs for your van but I am sure a thousand pounds is well within it's capabilities. Always always go for the stronger hitch if you have the chance. A word to the wise, boat ramps can be horribly slick, having front wheel drive will give you a huge advantage but if you are needing tires, might want to think about a good quality all season tread if you dont already have it.
