What is the best selling fishing net?

I am selling my fishing boat?

  • for $5k. Am i asking too much for a 1983 17' fishing boat including outboard motor, new upholstery and carpet. It has a trolling motor and includes two fish finders.

    That sounds like a reasonable price to ask - fish finders themselves are pretty dang expensive! I assume it comes with trailer, and I'll bet you get at least $4500.

Ask your bank what the loan value is for a boat like yours. Use that as a benchmark to determine its worth.

The price you select should also apeal to your local market and current conditions. The same boat may sell for more during the month of April than it would during January. If the boat were located in Gerlach, NV it may not fetch the same price as the same boat with the same exact equipment located at the Marina in Berkeley, CA. Service is also a factor in the consumer's decision, if this boat was well mantained with service receipts to prove it, you may develope the buyer's confidence and he may be less concerned about the price. As for your current asking price, I really think there are many other factors to consider before anyone can say whether or not your decision to sell the boat for $5k is either reasonable or unreasonable.

Is it a top name boat, or an "M.F.G" ? The "meat and potato's" of a boat are the ENGINE ! a 24 year old outboard is "TOAST", a ten year old outboard is made into "Mooring anchor " at most marina's, put a "Best offer" sign on it and cross your fingers for $400
