What is the best website to shop for boat parts?

  • Answer:

It depends on what part you want. For Electrical Parts (starters, alternators) I go to arcomarine.com. They supply most of the repair shops with those items. For Manifolds and risers try oscomotors.com. I have used Westmarine.com and like it for the speed but not necessarily the cost. Although I understand since they fired their CEO they have started to come back down a bit. go2marine.com, iboats.com, marineparts.com are all good suppliers. As a shipwright I have personally used them and found them to be fairly painless to use. I know this answers your questions.

no website, a boat part is very serious. if u buy it online u dont know if the seller has a lisence or where they got the parts from, they can be old broken, stolen, and you wont even know. your best bet is to go to a place that you got your boat from and ask them where you should go. trust me on this

Check out West Marine on line, and the manufacturers, but your best buys will probably come from local chandleries, including second hand marine stores. You really need to see what you are buying unless you know for sure you are ordering the correct part. Also visit boat yards in your area and talk to people there - they will know the best places with the best deals.
