What is the best website to shop for boat parts?

I bought a boat on ebay found out 60 days over to late that one of the engines is cracked.he doesn't answer me

  • I bought this boat in ebay, went to Rhode Island from New York to go and pick it up and come to see it it had ripped seats. I was excited not aware of other things. I took off with the boat got one state over and suddenly one of the wheels was going to come off in the highway. The hub got to hot because he never lubricated the wheel bearings. I had to leave it in Massachusetts. The next day i emailed him and tried calling him, to tell him what happened no answer again. The next day went to pick up the boat and trailer at the shop where i had left it. Payed $300 for parts and labor, took it home. Ever since then i tryed calling him no answer. About 2 months later I went to DMV to get this boat registerd, I couldn't get the trailer some plates, because lack of documents. I emailed again this time he responded telling me his fault he forgot and he'll send it right away ...nothing never heard from him agian. Also i found out later on one engine was crack. How can i get this guy to pay.

  • Answer:

It sounds like a case of "buyer beware." There is probably nothing you can do about it. It is a mistake to buy a car, boat, etc without getting an inspection first. You bought it "as is" so now it's your headache. The only loophole might be the lack of documents. Talk to a lawyer.

Unless he gave you a specific guarantee IN WRITING, you'll just have to chalk it up to experience. It's YOUR responsibility to make certain, when you take possession of the boat, that you have ALL the necessary paperwork to license it in YOUR State. It just sounds to me like you are trying to blame that guy (who no doubt laughed all the way to the bank) because YOU screwed up.. Next time, be a bit wiser and get your thinking together BEFORE money changes hands. If you READ the warning in BoatTrader Online, they recommend using an Escrow service... and THAT is the best idea I could offer.

either get a lawyer, contact better business bureau and certainly let ebay know about it

I think you would have to go to small claims court and file a claim on the basis that the seller grossly misrepresented the condition of the boat......also, I would contact your local district attorney/ city attorney, and see if you can file a complaint for wire fraud, since eBay is Internet......I've had many problems in the last few months with sellers on eBay not refunding, shipping, and otherwise misrepresent their merchandise......it used to be a good marketplace, but has changed....... :-)
