How to replace wood floor in a boat?

Where in toronto can i purchase marine plywood to replace the floor in my boat?

  • i need to replace the floor in my 74' grew 194. where can i purchase this wood?

  • Answer:

Marine grade is available at Century Mill in Stouffville, but save your money and use pressure treated. As long as you seal the seams and edges with polyester resin, P/T will last 20 years. Or go to Noahs Marine, it may be closer to you. http://www.noahsmarine.com/

You do not need to buy "Marine Grade" plywood for this. Just go to Lowes or Home builders and buy the very best grade plywood you can buy. Additionally, I would NEVER use treated lumber. Many because of the added weight, and because of it's reaction to both a good Marine paint or sealant. The very best and (forever lasting) solution here is to encapsulate (laminate) the plywood with boat epoxy. This is very easy to do - it is just like painting. Get your epoxy, and paint (laminate) the plywood on both sides and on all the edges and corners. Once that all dries, you can install it, and then paint all that part of the plywood that is exposed to the sun. As long as you protect the epoxy laminated wood from the sun's suv rays, and have done a good job of laminating it with epoxy, you will never have to worry about it again. It will last longer then you, or the rest of your boat. John
