What is the weight of a Ford Ranger?

Can my Nissan D21 Hardbody truck tow a car dolly with a Ford Ranger on it? Rolling weight?

• I have a 1997 Nissan Hardbody extended cab pickup, 2wd, 2.4L 4 cylinder motor, 65k miles. Bumper has a maximum tow rating of 2,000 pounds. I own a single axle tow dolly -- no idea how much it weighs -- let's say 300 pounds. I need to pick up (tow) a 1998 Ford Ranger extended cab 4x4 which weighs 4700 pounds and bring it about 30 miles. Since the two rear wheels of the truck will still be on the ground as will the tow dolly wheels, this is all "rolling weight." So, how many pounds of ROLLING weight will a bumper that claims a 2000 pound TOWING capacity weight, pull? Should I be able to do this without destroying my Nissan?

  It will fail. Quick math, tongue weight, 300lbs rolling weight, 4700lbs+300lbs+fuel and stuff, You just reached a tow weight of 5000lbs+. I would not even try to tow my 3000lb boat with a 2.4L Gas anything. 1997 Nissan 2.4L it can tow a uhaul maybe a small truck on a proper dolly. 30 miles? Get a friend, drive to the truck, drive the truck back or use the friends V8 and the dolly. You would be better off renting a U-Haul Truck and using your dolly, or a flatbed. Then add it up, +gas, then call a Tow Truck and get a quote. There is also stuff about the transmission, so get it right. Do it correctly, do it once.
