What are some of the work opportunities to cross the Atlantic by ship/boat?

What are some of the work opportunities to cross the Atlantic by ship/boat? I would like to cross the Atlantic to Europe without having to pay much. I have heard a little about the Merchant Marine Ships and I found out cruise ships aren't really an option. What else is out there? I need resources and reliable facts. Please help.

How STUPID ARE YOU? You don't sign on for a single trip or don't you know even TAHT much about working on ships. AND.. by the time yoiu spend about $1000 JUST FOR A BASIC COURSE that would make you HIRABLE you could buy a plane ticked cheaper. If you can't afford $500 for a plane ticket.. THEN STAY HOME. YOu DO KNOW you also have to get a PASSPORT and to work on a ship you need a "Z" CARD.. you DO KNOW THAT.. right? What IS IT with you morons? Do any of you NOT live is some FANTASY WORLD?
