What is an alternative motor oil for Yamaha 4 stroke outboards vs the more expensive Yamalube?

Answer:
Yamalube is a synthetic motor oil, same as Castrol Syntech Amsoil or any other synthetic brand. The only difference is that Yamaha had one of the company's put it in a bottle with their name on it!

Same here, they don't make it, they get a oil vendor to make it.... Though I wouldn't put hydrocracked castrol syntec in the synthetic category (they won the lawsuit to sell it as a syn), mobil one, amsoil, redline, royal purple are all good synthetic oils to use....

any 4 stroke oil will do. Yamalube is just more expensive because of the name.
