Does it take 15 minutes to travel from India to Sri Lanka?

From the southernmost tip of India closest to Sri Lanka I have heard,it was a 15 minutes walking distance when the bridge mentioned in the Indian epics was present Anyway, how much time is needed to travel by sea from India to Sri Lanka ? thank you

The point closest to the srilanka in the mainland India is Dhanushkodi,Tamilnadu.It is a straight line distance of 28 km.You can even see lights from srilanka at the night.Any way, it not at a 15 minutes walking distance now.May be geographical changes have occured.

It is 28 km and it will always take at least 1 hour to reach by sea and yes by air from Chennai it takes 45 min to reach Colombo
