Can anyone help me identify what building this is?
-
I saw and image a few years ago on the Webshots site, but I have searched repeatedly and cannot find the image there or anywhere else on the web. The building in question is located somewhere in the SW Asia/India. The photo shows a large white building in the midst of a large lake with the full moon overhead. The architecture is Indian/Middle Eastern in nature. I believe the caption referred to it as being a government building of some sort, maybe a parlaiment building, but not sure. I would imagine it would be pretty famous since it is so striking, so maybe a student of Asian or Mid East architecture would have an idea what I am referring to. I am mildly obsessed with getting my hands on a copy because I was so moved by the image.

Answer:
humm..pretty vague ay... check these.. 1) http://www.theodora.com/wfb/photos/india/india_photos_18.html (jain temple Pawapuri-Bihar_India) 2) haji ali - bombay - http://www.flickr.com/photos/markdmartin/2337035090/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hajiali.jpg 3) water palace jaipur - http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=water+palace+jaipur&m=text http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Jal_Mahal_Jaipur.jpg that's all i can think of now... Can u recollect the color?? EDIT -- Almost missed out on this one -- Golden temple -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Golden_Temple_Amritsar.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Amritsar-golden-temple-00.JPG http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmandir_Sahib Indian Architecture is a mixture of a long history of various rulers from various groups and races of the world..India was predominally a 'Dravidian' place (Dravidian is a race like Causacian) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dravidian_architecture till 5000 yrs back when 'Aryans' came in and pushed the Dravidians to south India...Hence Aryan_North Indian architecture is totally different from the South Indian_Dravidian architecture... Around 2500BC Alexander th Great came from Greece, so a bit of Greek Influence also came into the architecture... Around 1000AD Muslim kings came from persia so started the muslim 'Dome Architecture' (though its argued that the Muslim Architectures were predominally hindu or pre-mughal http://www.stephen-knapp.com/was_the_taj_mahal_a_vedic_temple.htm ) but still we'd consider the middle eastern effects.. Next came the Brits, french & Portuguese in the 1700s...they left a definite mark...most of the Government houses in all big cities are British Made Palaces... An Architecture on water is rather a pro-aryan thingy.. check this out -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architecture_of_India
