    For economic and comfortable journey - Kanyakumari to Nagerkoil By car. Nagerkoil to Trivandrum by Bus is a good option. Trivandrum to Kovalam by Car. Otherwise plenty of cars would be available in Kanyakumari to take you to Kovalam. Stay near beach - East facing, so that you can enjoy Sunrise from room itself. In fact there is hardy any beach its all rocky surface.

When you asked the question where to stay in Kanyakumari I think you are some one visiting kanyakumari and kovalam. if you do not want to return to kanyakumari you can avoid the taxi as you have to pay the charge inclusive of its return to kanyakumari. You can have a lot of buses to trivandrum and kovalam is some 25 kilo meters before trivandrum. The bus may not go to the beach which is only 1 to 2 km away from the national highway. but you can get down on the highway and catch a taxi or Auto. you can also go by train to trivandrum and get a taxi back to visit kovalam. About the stay the temple is also in the sea shore. it will be worth to take a room in the 2-3 hotels near the temple facing the see so that you can watch the sunrise from your room. Please verify that the room is facing the eastern sea and you can see the sea by personally inspecting the room.
