I have been to both places and in my opinion, I liked Gangtok better. It is too beautiful and much closer to the Himalayas. I found Gangtok to be a very unique place and I loved Tsangu lake. I would love to go there again! But since Gangtok and Darjeeling are so close, maybe you can visit both the places :) As Tiger Hill in Darjeeling is also worth visiting.
