Please help me o plan my trip from Pune to GOA?

Very cumbersome train travel will be for you especially from Pune. Better is travel by road or start your train journey from Mumbai ( Panvel will be good for you) through Kokan Railway. If you opt for road travel: travel till Kolhapur then take to Radhanagari - Kanakavli road. From Kankavli you will be joining Mumbai to Goa highway. Nice journey with lots of greenery. If you start early morning, you will easily reach Goa ( Panjim - the capital) by evening even after taking meals breaks etc. Several buses ply on this route ( including luxury buses) Since you are with family, safety must be your motto. Stay in Goa Tourism hotels. They have nice properties at all tourist places including beaches. Book your accommodation before you go to avoid stay problems. As it is I don't think Goa will be too congested at the time you visit but why worry about stay when you can book earlier? The tourist companies run 2 separate day long tours in Goa ( start from Panjim). They are South Goa and North Goa tours. These cover all important tourist places. You can spend two days on these tours and see what you like and would like to visit again. Then on rest of the days you can visit those spots. Public transport is crowded in Goa but frequency is good. You can also book cars with drivers in all major cities in Goa for sightseeing. Rates are comparable to Pune rates ( not much costlier ) Your driver could be your guide, too. And in sightseeing tours ( above mentioned ) you need not have any guide - the bus people do provide all the information. August is mid-monsoon. The seas will be rough and stormy. Be very very careful and cautious when you are near any sea side / beach. If you can resist - don't enter into sea at all. Too DANGEROUS. For veg meals , you have to really look for the restaurants / food joints as Goa is more known for seafood and non-veg food. But veg facilities are available at major towns.
