Which is the best place to go during Dec and Jan, otty or (sikkim,gangtok,dargelling)?

Otty is best place during that time but if you decide to visit Darjelling then it would be great visit to these places as there will very less crowd .Otty will be heavy crowd during that time as once I faced enormous trouble getting lodging at Ooty and Mysore ,Bangalore .The place remains so much crowdy that taxi fellows chargeexorbitantt ammount and you feel like travelling in Metros of Kolkata,delhi,Mumbai .Actually I did not enjoy Ooty at all during Dec/Jan

Ooty is so commercialised, that you won't enjoy the stay compared to what you will spending. It's expensive and crowded. Down south I would say you may visit Wayanad district in Kerala or even Kodaikanal. If there is no alternative to Ooty for you in South India, then I would say Silkkim is better than Darjeeling. By the way Gangtok is a city in sikkim. Darjeeling is nt safe at this point because of the agitation of the Gorkha's for a separate Gorkhaland.

Even in winter, you will not have snow or ice in Ooty. The beauty of the Himalayas is also not available. Better is Sikkim / Darjeeling. Gangtok is the captial of Sikkim. Darjeeling is only a city. While Sikkim has many things on offer. An average journey will need atleast 7 days from Siliguri / New Jailpaiguri / Badogra and back. While an extensive journey in Sikkim will require around 15 days. I have been to all these places many a times. But I prefer Sikkim to the others. Its the best.
