Are there any lightweight travel guides to India?

Is Rs 12000 enough to make a 12 day tour to south India from Chennai to KanyaKumari?

• I visited Char Dham through local tour guides at Haridwar at about Rs 11000 per head. I mean Rs 3500 that is all I had to paid for the bus and fuel. the remaining expences are upon the passengers itself, the driver was very good he made us stayed at some ordinary hotel, which was good also bcz we come to God not to show our aristrocacy with deluxe ac and all... ------------------------ So I was thinking of visiting South India I saw the net that there is 14 days tour availible from Chennai to KanyaKumari, so please guys tell me can I do the same in South India like I got in Char Dham? I want local tour guys who accumulate 12 to 15 people in a mini traveller and start from Chennai and take us in the tour, we ourself will make the cheap lodge or guest house arrangements. Over all I expect by lodging and bus fare the cost should not be over Rs 12000 for each person. I dont want 5* hotels or luxury a bed for the night is sufficient for me -------- If yes please tell me where near the Chennai Central Railway Station will I find such local tour and travel fellows, like name of shop or something like that to assist me on arrival.

  It looks pricey to me. You can find the places of interest yourself on the net and find hotels on the net. Book your travel yourself and go. But if you are already travelling then you don have time. because in india most travel has to be prebooked. You can tour chennai to kanyakumari for 1/5th of that if you know the routes, how to use the public transport n where to eat and stay. Anyhow, go to chennai and call Just dial . Its a helpline number. You can ask the help desk in the station for Justdial number or anyone in the station. You can dial Justdial for ANYTHING you wnt in chennai :) There is nothing nearby Chennai Railway station. Call them and find those guys.
